Dr. Stephen Juvet is a clinician-scientist and respirologist with the Toronto Lung Transplant Program.

He is a graduate of the University of Toronto Faculty of Medicine (MD 2002) and the Institute of Medical Science (PhD 2013).  After postdoctoral training in Oxford, UK (2013-2014) he returned to the University Health Network in 2015 to initiate a fundamental and translational research program in transplantation immunology.

Research Synopsis

My research is focused on mechanisms of chronic rejection and the determinants of immunological tolerance in transplanted lungs and other solid organs. We are using rodent models to examine how chronic lung allograft rejection is exacerbated by inflammation in the lung, and to apply novel therapeutic strategies to transplanted organs prior to surgical implantation in the recipient. We also have access to an extensive biobank of human specimens for translational studies.
