Dr. Turashvili obtained her MD degree at Tbilisi State Medical University (Georgia) and PhD degree (Pathology) at Palacky University (Czech Republic). After several years of research at University of British Columbia (Vancouver, BC), she completed residency training in Anatomical Pathology at Queen`s University (Kingston, ON), and two years of fellowship training in Breast and Gynecologic Pathology at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center (New York, NY). Dr. Turashvili joined the staff of Mount Sinai Hospital and the faculty of the University of Toronto in 2018.

Research/Teaching

Research Synopsis

My research interests include neoplastic and preneoplastic gynecologic diseases and breast cancer. The goal of my research is to better understand the biology of rare special subtypes of breast cancer as well as precursor lesions and malignant neoplasms of the uterine cervix and endometrium, and generate insights to inform the practice of Gynecologic and Breast Pathology.
